171 baisas

As far as I know Oman's smallest currency denomination is the 5 baisa. What's up with this pricing?

Very well spotted, muscati. I know, it's really very annoying! And they end up taking 200 baisas claiming that they don't have change to return. Even if they had, they won't really return 19 baisas because as you said Oman's smallest currency is 5 baisas.

There should be some regulation governing the rounding off to multiples of 5 of odd figures...171 baisas for juice is unusual...it is normal for produce like fruits/vegetables to get odd figures as prices...

171 baisas should be charged at 170...

Maybe they read this blog!AL Fair at AL sarooj has repriced them at 200 bz.

Interestingly, they also had big signs up at the checkout stating that because of the shortage of coins available they would no longer be giving change in coins!!!! I assume it was just a one day issue?
